She has been exploring questions of personal and social identity since the 1970s, reflecting on her position as a woman in the construct of her own family. Corina Gertz photographs women in traditional dress all over the world. Her focus is on the quieter side of the portrait, the back view. The individual remains hidden, only the clothing carries information.
