Built around 1580, Kranichstein Hunting Lodge, with its idyllic park, is situated within a picturesque hunting landscape featuring forests, meadows, and ponds. Artfully designed viewing corridors, hunting lodges, wild boar traps, as well as cultural and natural monuments document 400 years of princely hunting pleasures and the desire for prestige among the Landgraves and Grand Dukes of Hesse-Darmstadt.

 

 

The Kranichstein Hunting Lodge MUSEUM tells the story of the long tradition of hunting in Darmstadt. Built in the 16th century as a royal estate, the lodge became the hunting residence of the Landgraves of Darmstadt in the 18th century.
